Alt/Print Screen doesn't print it, it copies it to the clipboard. You can then use something else to save it as a .jpg or whatever file format the software is capable of.

After you hit Alt/Print Screen on your keyboard, open up paint and hit "Ctrl", then "V" Then go to: File -> Save as
