How do you folks record the audio with your video? I have a mic input on my recorder and thought I could plug it into a radio and get good sound that way. It records, but it is over modulated if I make it loud enough to hear.
If you add audio after recording video, what software do you use. I tried using "movie maker" to do this, but it is so tedious!
You do not use the audio that was recorded during the video recording process... After you record the video use a video editing program (I use Adobe Premire) to replace the audio with the original file the LOR sequence uses. You will have a good audio with out the ambient sounds you picked up with the video recording...

To expand on the last comment...if you can, do record the audio along with the video, then it will be easier to sync up (match) the audio to the video when you replace it with the original wav or mp3 source using your video editing software.
I use both Pinnacle and Ulead Studio 10 for editing.

To take the last two comments a step further, add the clean audio to a track without before deleting the audio track from the camera. Use these two track to sync the audio. Then delete the camera audio track.

Using pure audio dubbed over your video makes it much easier for Youtube to detect it and not let you upload or remove the audio. I have found that if I leave the background noise (wind) it makes it through with no problems.
There is one thing I think I am seeing on YT and that is songs from Sony do not seem to get the audio removed, only an add at the bottom of the video is displayed.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm thinking about not posting any Universal Music Group songs this year since those are the ones for sure that get removed.
Just to add another thought…if your camera will take a standard audio jack and you were broadcasting your show over FM you could use a direct line from a radio. This would most likely, depending on your camera, cut out any ambient noise. I was going to do just that except my camera had a brand specific jack.
ok, mine was the KISS plan. i waited until about 2am, made sure the outside speakers were off, and went across the street with a small portable radio (using the FM transmitter only) and recorded the show. it came out great. no background noise at all. i put the radio on a small tray table under the camcorder and sat back and watched the whole show. oh i did add a 5 second delay between sequences to help with editing the videos later. just my 2 cents.
I just used my daughters MP3 player. It has a radio built in. I replaced the headphones with a 1/8 stereo cable and plugged it into my cameras mic. input. I'd adjust the the volume with the MP3 player and watch the audio levels on the camera to make sure it was where I wanted it. I don't know if all cameras are like this but when I use my Mic input it shuts off the built-in microphone so I don't get any ambient noise. This was the easiest way for me.
